Ananda Marga Personal Meditation Instruction

A spiritual aspirant may learn a personal meditation technique from an Acarya (spiritual teacher) of Ananda Marga. The lesson is free of charge. It entails a commitment to meditate twice daily. Initially a 20-minute meditation would be a good duration to aim for.

During the meditation instruction the spiritual aspirant will commit to follow the basic principles of morality known as the Yama and Niyama. He/she is introduced to the symbol of Ananda Marga which represents in a graphic form the twin motto of an Ananda Marga follower which is “Self Realization and Service to the Universe”.

This entire process is known as Diks’a in Sanskrit or in English initiation. It is a significant moment in the life of the spiritual aspirant as he/she formally and consciously begins to move along a chosen spiritual path under the guidance of a Spiritual Master (Guru).

As Ananda Marga meditation and way of life is quite detailed, the other aspects of the teaching and way of life can be introduced gradually to the aspirant according to their readiness to accept and understand the philosophy.

The Ananda Marga way of life is spiritually based. Meditation forms the nucleus practice of the way of life. It is for this reason that it should never be neglected. Rather to re-enforce the spiritual momentum one is to perform it twice a day without fail.
